About the Role

Our projects span onshore and offshore energy ventures, and we're looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team and help us navigate the legal landscape with confidence and creativity.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you'll be at the forefront of our legal operations, providing expert counsel and representation on a wide range of matters as part of a dynamic, high-performing Legal Team working from our Adelaide headquarters.

Your role will involve:

• Leading Legal Initiatives:  From oil and gas joint ventures (both onshore and offshore), environment and sustainability to mergers and acquisitions, you'll be the go-to expert for all legal aspects of our projects in Western Australia, South Australia and in Victoria.
• Drafting and Negotiating:  You'll draft and negotiate key documents that reflect our transactional and operational needs, including commodity sales and transportation agreements and a wide range of project agreements.
• Managing Stakeholder Relationships:  You'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
• Litigation and Dispute Resolution: You'll be involved with litigation and disputes, ensuring our interests are protected.

Some interstate travel, or travel to our remote operations in Australia, may be required from time to time.

You will need:

• A current Australian (unrestricted) practising certificate as a legal practitioner.
• +10 years' post-admission experience in an inhouse role (preferred) or a diverse commercial legal practice.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
• Extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions, including managing complex transactions.
• Demonstrable experience in drafting, developing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
• A high-performance, proactive approach and the ability to deliver practical outcomes in a timely manner.
