Beach Energy is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to support the effective implementation of our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System across our New Zealand operations, including the Kupe Gas Plant, offshore wellhead platform and Omata Tank Farm.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with operational, maintenance and project teams to drive continuous improvement, strengthen safety culture and ensure compliance across our assets.

About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader Health & Safety, who is based in Melbourne, you will support the safe and effective operation of Beach Energy's New Zealand assets through the delivery of H&S programs, assurance activities, incident investigations and risk management initiatives.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing H&S technical advice and support across the Kupe Gas Plant, offshore wellhead platform and Omata Tank Farm
  • Supporting the implementation and assurance of Beach Energy's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS)
  • Leading ICAM incident investigations across New Zealand and Australia, where required
  • Conducting H&S audits and assurance activities across operational sites and key contractor relationships
  • Acting as the H&S lead for major maintenance shutdowns and operational projects
  • Monitoring and reporting H&S performance indicators to operational leadership, joint venture partners and regulators
  • Supporting contractor pre-qualification, tender evaluations and ongoing contract assurance activities
  • Delivering health monitoring, occupational hygiene and safety campaign programs across the asset
  • Providing H&S input to HAZID and HAZOP workshops and supporting emergency management activities
  • Supporting operational training, competency development and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the business

About You

 

You are an experienced health and safety professional with a strong background in oil and gas or another high-hazard industry. You bring a practical approach to safety leadership, the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and a passion for creating safer workplaces through effective systems, processes and engagement.

 

You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice
  • Experience leading incident investigations and delivering effective corrective actions
  • Demonstrated H&S leadership capability and experience influencing positive change
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and risk-based decision making
  • A current driver's licence

 

The following would be highly regarded:

  • Lead Auditor qualifications in ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
  • ICAM Lead Investigator accreditation
  • Offshore operational experience and current BOSIET or FOET certification
