About the Program
Running from 30th November 2026 to 19th February 2027, Beach Energy’s paid Summer Vacation Program gives you the opportunity to gain practical industry experience, contribute to meaningful work and build the skills, confidence and networks that can help launch your career.
As a Summer Vacation Program - Engineer student, you will join our Onshore and Offshore division in Melbourne, or nearby to our operational sites in Port Campbell or Lang Lang, supporting operational engineering activities and projects across Beach Energy’s Victorian operations.
Working alongside experienced engineering, operations and maintenance professionals, you will contribute to operational engineering support, plant performance activities, technical project work and continuous improvement initiatives while developing your technical capability, business understanding and professional skills.
Throughout the program, you will be supported by experienced professionals across the business, with opportunities to learn through day-to-day work, structured program activities, coaching, feedback and practical exposure to Beach Energy’s operations.
This role is based in Melbourne and may include ad hoc travel to operational sites in Victoria, giving you the opportunity to gain exposure to operational facilities and see how engineering supports safe, reliable and efficient outcomes in practice.
What You'll be Doing
In this placement, you will support operational engineering and project activities while developing practical technical, commercial and professional understanding of the energy industry.
- Providing engineering technical support across areas such as plant troubleshooting, operational surveillance, engineering calculations and plant performance evaluation.
- Assisting with assigned engineering projects, studies and operational activities through research, data analysis, calculations and documentation.
- Helping prepare, review and maintain technical reports, drawings, registers and project deliverables to support informed decision-making.
- Applying relevant engineering principles, standards and procedures under supervision to contribute to safe, reliable and efficient outcomes.
- Identifying and escalating technical issues, risks or improvement opportunities to supervisors or project leads in a timely manner.
- Building effective working relationships with supervisors, team members and key stakeholders to support collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Preparing and sharing program outcomes, project insights or learnings that demonstrate your contribution to the business and Vacation Program experience.

About You
We are looking for a motivated, curious and proactive engineering student who is interested in gaining real-world industry experience and exploring a potential career with Beach Energy.
To be considered, you will currently be in your penultimate year of a tertiary qualification in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
- Have the right to work in Australia.
- Foundational knowledge in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel to sites in Victoria on an ad hoc basis.
- Curiosity, problem-solving ability, flexibility and a willingness to learn and apply feedback.
