About the Role

 

Working in a vibrant and supportive team you will continue to build Beach’s relationships and reputation within its communities and key stakeholders, as a strong foundation to support our activities and commitments.

 

Working closely with project teams and the environment team, achieve and maintain social licence and regulatory approvals for development projects by developing stakeholder engagement plans consistent with IAP2 standards, implementing activities set out in plans and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. 

 

A critical success factor includes maintaining awareness of political, environmental, and social issues in communities. Understanding the interests and concerns of different stakeholder groups, you will develop and deliver stakeholder engagement and community investment plans that ensure social performance outcomes required for successful project delivery. 

Key responsibilities will include

 

  • Participating in project kick off, risk workshops and ongoing weekly project meetings to understand activities, risks and mitigations, and regulatory requirements for each project.
  • Developing Stakeholder Engagement Plans (SEPs) for projects, consistent with the IAP2 standards and Beach’s Community Engagement Standard. Developing SEPs includes reviewing stakeholder lists and researching new stakeholders, identifying concerns and key messages, identifying, and developing relevant communications channels and schedules.
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance of stakeholder engagement requirements for Environment Plans (EPs) for each project are met.  
  • Delivering technical information, environmental data, and other relevant information through written materials for public information sheets, website content, public meetings, and one-to-one briefings.
  • Issuing communications to all stakeholders, necessary for developing Environment Plans and ongoing compliance with engagement commitments within Environment Plans.
  • Arranging meetings with key stakeholders, prepare presentations tailored to areas of impact and concerns, attend meetings, take minutes, distribute to stakeholders.

About You

 

An innate talent to develop strong, trusting, respectful relationships with community members and internal teams will be essential in this role. As such, highly developed communication, engagement, and negotiation skills are essential, along with:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in community, public or stakeholder relations, media or related field or proven related experience in community engagement and/or sustainability program management.
  • Extensive experience in community engagement with experience in a similar sector or industry desirable (e.g. transport, infrastructure, mining, resources, energy industry or local government).
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise.
  • Ability to build and maintain highly effective relationships.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced negotiation skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, particularly listening, empathy and building rapport with many different types of individual stakeholders and groups.
  • Ability to travel to regional communities and corporate offices as required.
  • Current valid driver’s license.
