Beach Energy is seeking a Technical Assistant to provide essential technical and data support across our Exploration & Subsurface teams for a 12 month temporary contract.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to build hands-on experience in subsurface data, geoscience workflows, and industry-leading applications within a supportive, technically strong environment.

About the Role

 

Reporting to the Geo-Computing Manager, the Technical Assistant provides day-to-day technical support to Exploration and Subsurface teams, with a strong focus on data conditioning, loading, and reporting.

 

Working closely with geoscientists, asset teams, drilling and completion teams, and IT, you’ll help ensure subsurface data is accurate, accessible, and fit for purpose. This is a practical, detail-oriented role, ideal for someone looking to grow their technical capability and exposure within the energy sector.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare maps, cross-sections, figures and data inputs to support well proposals, geological interpretations, technical reports and presentations.
  • Load and maintain geological, seismic and well data across subsurface applications to support interpretation and analysis.
  • Ensure third-party well logs and mudlogs meet internal standards and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Produce and maintain production and subsurface reporting systems, providing timely reports as required.
  • Provide first-level software and technical support for subsurface systems, working with the Geo-Computing Manager to resolve issues and implement improvements.
  • Support the Senior Geoscience Technician and broader technical services team as required.
  • Actively build capability by learning new software, tools and workflows to provide coverage and flexible support across the team.

About You

 

We’re looking for a candidate with geoscience experience who demonstrates sound technical capability, good judgement, and the ability to effectively support team and operational objectives.

 

You’ll bring:

  • Experience working with technical data, databases or information systems.
  • Exposure to Petrel or similar subsurface applications (preferred).
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • A genuine interest in geoscience, subsurface data and technical workflows, with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Experience with GIS, seismic or well data, or data analytics will be highly regarded.
