Beach Energy is seeking a Head of Corporate Planning & Economics for a highly visible role, where your economic expertise will directly shape our strategic and portfolio decisions.
In this position, you will lead a high‑performing function responsible for creating, protecting and maximising value across the business.
From major investment decisions to long‑term planning, you’ll deliver high‑quality analysis, innovative economic approaches and key insights that strengthen Beach Energy’s competitive advantage and support confident, value‑accretive decision‑making.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be the driving force behind Beach Energy’s economic frameworks, models and valuation tools. This is the ideal role for a leader who blends strategic acumen, commercial insight and exceptional people skills.
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Primary responsibility for all of Beach’s economic models and decision support valuation techniques in line with the prevailing Economics strategy and as may be recommended to and approved by the Executive Team, Board and/or Board committees.
- Ensure economic framing, case development and results accurately reflects data, insights and strategic alignment across the business.
- Oversee robust portfolio analysis and results, ensuring “what‑if” scenarios have been developed to support portfolio optimisation.
- Oversee Beach’s Defence valuation, ensuring model readiness, accuracy and alignment with corporate standards.
- Drive market intelligence efforts, analysing competitor activity, industry trends and energy markets dynamics to inform strategy and key business decisions.
- Lead the development, syndication, recommendation and implementation of economics strategies and techniques to promote functional excellence and continuous improvement to support and optimise Beach Energy’s value throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Ensure documentation of economics systems, processes and guidelines are developed to drive functional excellence and best practice.
- Lead, coach and support team members to deliver the business objectives. Promote and encourage others to develop an in-depth understanding of the value drivers of Beach Energy assets.

About You
A strategic thinker, you will bring focus to things that matter and bring an achievement drive that sets and achieves a standard of excellence in outcomes and ongoing performance. Additionally:
- Extensive and proven expertise in undertaking complex modelling techniques, including quantitative risk analysis.
- Extensive and proven experience providing leadership and direction of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Sound understanding of the global and domestic energy industry landscape, trends and emerging issues and opportunities.
- Sound understanding of the Australian petroleum exploration & production industry and agreements associated with JV operations, processing, transportation and marketing of hydrocarbons.
- Experience in building excellent relationships and contacts with senior industry players and advisers.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal), negotiation and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate at the most senior levels.
- Ability to participate and contribute in a team environment, with a customer focussed mindset.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, legal, finance or a technical related discipline.
