Beach Energy is seeking a highly capable Energy Markets Analyst to deliver critical market intelligence and help shape the company’s commercial and strategic decision‑making.
In this high‑impact role, you’ll be responsible for analysing Australia’s east and west coast gas and electricity markets, global LNG markets and domestic and international liquids markets. You’ll transform complex datasets into clear insights that directly influence Beach Energy’s strategy.

About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will partner closely with teams across marketing, trading, commercial operations, strategy, economics and corporate affairs to deliver high‑value market modelling and insights.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead the development and maintenance of up‑to‑date market models and forecasts to guide trading and commercial strategy.
- Create data-driven, analytical content abut electricity, energy and power markets to deliver high-value insights.
- Monitor and analyse trends across gas, liquids and electricity markets including pricing, supply and demand balance, system constraints and capacity.
- Assess the implications of regulatory and market changes and provide clear recommendations.
- Track competitor behaviour, demand shifts, weather impacts, interconnector flows, storage levels, and infrastructure movements to inform operational and strategic decisions.
- Apply statistical methods, modelling, scenario analysis and simulation tools to generate forecasts and support commercial discussions.
- Develop NEM dispatch, pricing, demand pattern analysis to guide commercial decisions.
- Build dashboards and visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Python.
- Collaborate with internal teams and liaise with external stakeholders, including regulators and industry bodies.
About You
You’re an analytical, commercially minded professional who thrives on solving complex problems. You blend strong technical capability with the ability to communicate insights clearly and influence decision‑makers. Additionally:
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience as an energy market analyst, economist or trading analyst.
- Deep understanding of Australian electricity and gas markets, plus global liquids market dynamics.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Python or similar analytical tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to collaborate with internal and external teams.
