Beach Energy is seeking an Accountant to support the financial management and reporting of our Onshore Joint Venture operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging accounting professional looking to broaden their experience across financial reporting, business partnering, budgeting, forecasting and commercial accounting within a leading ASX-listed energy company.

 

Working within our Finance team, you'll gain exposure to a diverse range of accounting activities while partnering with operational, commercial and finance stakeholders across the business.

About the Role

 

Reporting to the Finance Manager – Onshore, the Joint Venture Accountant will contribute to the financial stewardship of Beach's Onshore assets through financial reporting, analysis, budgeting support and stakeholder engagement.

 

While a key component of the role involves supporting accounting activities associated with our joint venture operations, prior joint venture experience is not essential. We are looking for someone with solid accounting fundamentals, attention to detail and a willingness to learn in a collaborative and supportive environment.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver monthly financial reporting and analysis for Onshore operations and commercial partnerships
  • Prepare income statement and balance sheet reporting, account reconciliations and accounting journals
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning activities for Onshore assets
  • Assist with the monitoring and reporting of project expenditure against approved budgets
  • Prepare financial information and reports for internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Support cash call processes, partner queries and financial obligations relating to commercial agreements
  • Contribute to statutory reporting requirements and support external audit activities
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to Finance governance initiatives
  • Build effective relationships across Operations, Commercial, Tax, Corporate Accounting and other business functions

About You

 

We're looking for an accounting professional who is eager to develop their career in a dynamic business environment. You'll be analytical, detail-oriented and comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely financial outcomes.

 

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline
  • Completed or working towards CA or CPA qualification
  • The ability to build effective working relationships across a broad stakeholder group
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate or higher MS Excel capability
  • SAP experience (desirable)
  • Oil and gas industry experience (desirable, not essential)
